Abstract: A streaming engine employed in a digital data processor specifies fixed first and second read only data streams. Corresponding stream address generator produces address of data elements of the two streams. Corresponding steam head registers stores data elements next to be supplied to functional units for use as operands. The two streams share two memory ports. A toggling preference of stream to port ensures fair allocation. The arbiters permit one stream to borrow the other”s interface when the other interface is idle. Thus one stream may issue two memory requests, one from each memory port, if the other stream is idle. This spreads the bandwidth demand for each stream across both interfaces, ensuring neither interface becomes a bottleneck.

Abstract: According to an embodiment, a bipolar transistor is disclosed for Electrostatic discharge (ESD) management in integrated circuits. The bipolar transistor enables vertical current flow in a bipolar transistor cell configured for ESD protection. The bipolar transistor includes a selectively embedded P-type floating buried layer (PBL). The floating P-region is added in a standard NPN cell. During an ESD event, the base of the bipolar transistor extends to the floating P-region with a very small amount of current. The PBL layer can provide more holes to support the current resulting in decreased holding voltage of the bipolar transistor. With the selective addition of floating P-region, the current scalability of the bipolar transistor at longer pulse widths can be significantly improved.

Abstract: Metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) transistors with reduced subthreshold conduction, and methods of fabricating the same. Transistor gate structures are fabricated in these transistors of a shape and dimension as to overlap onto the active region from the interface between isolation dielectric structures and the transistor active areas. Minimum channel length conduction is therefore not available at the isolation-to-active interface, but rather the channel length along that interface is substantially lengthened, reducing off-state conduction.

Abstract: This application proposes multi-beam antenna systems using spherical lens are proposed, with high isolation between antenna ports and compatible to 22, 44, 88 MIMO transceivers. Several compact multi-band multi-beam solutions (with wideband operation, 40%+, in each band) are achieved by creating dual-band radiators movable on the track around spherical lens and by placing of lower band radiators between spherical lenses. By using of secondary lens for high band radiators, coupling between low band and high band radiators is reduced. Beam tilt range and side lobe suppression are improved by special selection of phase shift and rotational angle of radiators. Resultantly, a wide beam tilt range (0-40 degree) is realized in proposed multi-beam antenna systems. Each beam can be individually tilted. Based on proposed single- and multi-lens antenna solutions, cell coverage improvements and stadium tribune coverage optimization are also achieved, together with interference reduction.

Abstract: A video coding device selects a current block for sub-block based affine inter-prediction, and derives a sub-block size for a sub-block of the current block. The sub-block size includes a sub-block width and a sub-block height. The device determines a unidirectional width threshold (TwU), a bidirectional width threshold (TwB), a unidirectional height threshold (ThU), and a bidirectional height threshold (ThB), where a total value of TwB and ThB exceeds a total value of TwU and ThU. The device determines that the affine inter-prediction is unidirectional inter-prediction or bidirectional inter-prediction. Based on the determination, the device applies the TwU or the TwB to the sub-block width, and applies the ThU or the ThB to the sub-block height. The device then derives a motion vector for the sub-block based on motion vectors for the current block, the sub-block width, and the sub-block height.

The algorithm first performs a coverage peak flattening algorithm to predict an impact to the total coverage area if a radio in a selected AP does not transmit signals in a frequency band. If the impact to the total coverage area is acceptable, the algorithm then performs a multi-point check algorithm to determine whether the radio in the selected AP is redundant in the frequency band. After determining that the radio in the selected AP is redundant in the frequency band, the algorithm transforms the redundant radio into various services based on the network deployment and user preference.

Inventor(s): Yang Li (Plano, TX, US) Assignee(s): Apple Inc. (Cupertino, CA, US) Law Firm: Kowert Hood Munyon Rankin and Goetzel PC (2 non-local offices) Application No., Date, Speed: 15923078 on 03/16/2018 (746 days app to issue)

Abstract: A downlink control information (DCI), such as a blanking DCI (bDCI) message may be transmitted by a base station (e.g., eNB) and received by a mobile device (e.g., UE). The bDCI may indicate that the eNB will not transmit a subsequent DCI to the UE for a duration of time. The UE may be in continuous reception mode or connected discontinuous reception (C-DRX) mode. The UE may therefore determine to enter a sleep state or take other action. The bDCI may specify an explicit blanking duration, or an index indicating a blanking duration from a lookup table, and/or the blanking duration (and/or a blanking duration offset value) may be determined in advance, e.g., semi-statically. When the UE is in C-DRX mode, the UE may be configured such that either the sleep/wake period of the C-DRX mode or the blanking period of the bDCI may take precedence over the other.

Abstract: A BS determines an amount of resource overloading for a contention transmission unit (CTU) access region associated with a grant-free uplink transmission scheme in a multiple access system. The BS determines a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) limit indicating a maximum MCS level for the CTU access region. The BS sends the MCS limit to a plurality of user equipments (UEs) associated with the first CTU access region. A UE receives from the base station the MCS limit and determines a first MCS index within the MCS limit for a first uplink transmission. The UE sends the first uplink transmission to the base station using a CTU in the CTU access region. The first uplink transmission includes user data and the first MCS index determined at the first UE.

Indication of multiple in multiple out network layers across carriers to optimize 5G or other next generation network Patent No. 10609754

Inventor(s): Hongyan Lei (Plano, TX, US) Assignee(s): ATT INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY I, L.P. (Atlanta, GA, US) Law Firm: Amin, Turocy Watson, LLP (2 non-local offices) Application No., Date, Speed: 16018872 on 06/26/2018 (644 days app to issue)

Abstract: Data can be sent simultaneously on the data links between long-term evolution (LTE) and new radio (NR) for dual connectively. However a mobile device can indicate its capabilities to the network. The mobile device capabilities can comprise the number of total multiple in multiple out (MIMO) layers that the mobile device can support. Because different sectors or markets can have different spectrums that can make use of an increased or decreased number of layers, then assessing the MIMO layer capabilities of the mobile device can allow the network to dynamically adjust the LTE side and the NR side capabilities to optimize network utilization.
